The International Sports Film Festival in Slovenia (ISFF) will take place in Rogaška Slatina from June 17 to June 19, 2026. The festival9s repertoire will include about 35 to 40 feature and documentary films focused on themes of sports and Olympism, as well as international films from entire family of FICTS festivals.
Festival Objectives:
- Promote the motto “Culture through Sport”
- Promote sports values such as sportsmanship, respect, friendship, loyalty, and team spirit through films.
- Encourage filmmakers to showcase sports-related content.
- Raise awareness about the importance of engaging in sports and physical activity.
- Present sports information to organizations that make decisions in related areas.
- Highlight sports as a tool for connecting people and strengthening social relationships.
- Promote of Slovenian sports and sports tourism at home and abroad.
Awards and Recognitions:
The best films at the festival will receive an award in their category and the right to represent Slovenia at the final FICTS festival, by invitation, in November 2026 in Milan. In addition two consecutive finalists in each category will be awarded with a special festival recognition.

TV station’s or streaming platform’s audience special competition for Best Sports film.
A media program editor will select 10 to 15 sports films from all submitted works and broadcast them in a special ISFF Slovenia slot within their program. The winner will receive a special award from the media partner and will also be directly nominated for the FICTS final festival in Milan in November 2026.
Conditions for application:
The call is open to production companies, producers, directors, individuals, public and private institutions, associations, federations, and other organizations from Slovenia and abroad. All film genres and lengths related in any way to sport are accepted. To be included in the competition program, films must have premiered after January 1, 2024.
All interested participants must submit their films via the FilmFreeway platform, pay the registration fee, and enter all the required information about the film, including a short description and contact information.
Registration fee:
- Feature film, documentary feature film: €20
- Short film, documentary short film: €10
The authors/producers of selected films will be notified by March 15, 2026.
Technical Requirements:
- Format: DCP 2K/4K (unencoded), HD file (ProRes, H264 etc.)
- Aspect ratio: 1:1.85, 1:2.39, 16:9
- Subtitles: Slovenian (DCP or .srt format) and English (.srt format)
The deadline for submitting a technically suitable film for festival screening is May 3, 2026, otherwise the organizer has the right to eliminate the finalist and replace it with the next selected film.

Participants grant the festival the right to use copyrighted works for the promotion of the festival.
