Preparations have begun for the major sports film festival under the auspices of FICTS from Milan!
The countdown has begun for the sports film event of the year in Rogaška Slatina! Preparations for the 4th International Sports Film Festival are in full swing. Once again, the festival takes place under the prestigious patronage of FICTS from Milan, which connects 132 member countries and 21 global festivals, as well as the Municipality of Rogaška Slatina, the Slovenian Tourist Board (STO), and the Olympic Committee of Slovenia.
This year, the film submission process was slightly more selective, yet an impressive 100 films worldwide have already been registered! Additional entries are still expected, as the submission deadline remains open until the end of March. We invite all Slovenian filmmakers to submit their works (short or feature-length) and seize the opportunity to showcase their films to an international audience.
According to the festival director, Metka Dedakovič, who has taken on the role of programming director this year, the submitted films are of outstanding quality and promise an unforgettable cinematic experience.
A Festival Closer to a Wider Audience!
This year, the festival is taking a significant step towards engaging a broader audience! The festival’s advisory board has decided to make a selection of competition films available for viewing in Ljubljana and Maribor, aiming to bring the art of sports documentary filmmaking closer to the public, particularly young audiences. The locations and dates for these special screenings will be revealed in upcoming announcements.
Spectacular Side Events in Rogaška Slatina
In addition to film screenings, Rogaška Slatina will host two spectacular events:
- Mini Olympics in collaboration with the Olympic Committee of Slovenia (OKS)
- A major 3×3 basketball tournament, open to all who dare to test their skills on the court.
The tournament call for entries will be published in the magazine Ekipa, on the official website www.isff.si, and across social media platforms. Organizers promise exciting prizes for participants and visitors alike.
A Blend of Film, Sports, Culture, and Gastronomy
The evening segment of the festival, held at the Cultural Center in Rogaška Slatina, will be titled “Film, Sports, Culture, and Gastronomy.” While the mornings will be dedicated to film screenings for young audiences, the evenings will feature screenings followed by discussions with directors and special guests, as well as culinary tastings of local delicacies prepared in collaboration with the local Rural Women’s Association.
As in previous years, the festival will also present special awards to individuals who have significantly contributed to the development of sports, film, and culture, honoring them for their lifetime achievements.
And of course, Rogaška Slatina will welcome well-known personalities from the world of sports and film. But who exactly? That will remain a secret… for now!
